Indicator
- A ring with a dot in the menu bar. It stays grey while your Mac is within its limits, then turns orange and red as the load climbs past them
- No notifications: the indicator is the only signal, and it goes back to grey by itself when the load drops
Limits
- A separate limit for CPU and for memory, each set by dragging a thumb on its bar
- The bars show your Mac’s load right now, so you see how far the limit sits from it
- A short spike does not trigger anything: the load has to stay over the limit for about 10 seconds. Drag the limit and the check runs again at once
The list
- Opens only when the load is over a limit, and lists only the apps behind it
- CPU rows show a percentage, memory rows show gigabytes
- Only your apps are listed. macOS system processes stay out, so nothing vital gets paused or killed
- Memory growing: an app whose memory keeps climbing is listed even while it is under the limit
- A “Not responding” label for apps macOS considers hung
- Pull the list down past the top to search the processes on this Mac
- Drag the bottom edge to resize the list, double-click it to fit the content again
Actions
- Pause and Resume in one click. A pause is reversible, and a paused row stays in the list until you resume it
- Restart for apps listed for their memory: the app closes and opens again
- Kill, with a 3-2-1 count. Save during the count cancels the action and brings the app forward so you can save your work
- Keys: ↑ and ↓ pick a row, P or Space pauses and resumes, R restarts, K kills, S saves, Return opens the app
- If Aide quits or crashes, it wakes the apps it paused
Everyday
- Starts at login
- Runs on macOS 13 Ventura or later
- Early access is free; a link in the list opens the feedback page
